SIMI - Sociedade Internacional de Montagens Industriais SA, founded in late 1988, is a metalworking company active in the industrial sector, organized for the provision of assembly works, from engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of all types of piping, mechanical equipment, storage tanks, large metalic structures, glass furnaces and maintenance of industrial plants.

SIMI's mission is to comply with the regulatory requirements regarding, Quality, Safety, Environment and Welding in accordance with the normative guidelines NP EN ISO 9001, NP ISO 45001, SCC-VCA** e ISO 3834-2.

The birth of SIMI

The birth of SIMI

Coinciding with the disappearance of some of the great Portuguese metal-mechanics companies, SIMI has become, in more than 30 years, one of the most reputated local companies in its business area.

Throughout this course, SIMI participated in the main Portuguese industrial projects, which allowed it to reach a top position in the local market.

The first works of SIMI: SOMINCOR /BOLIDEN - Minas de NEVES CORVO; DEGREMONT - ETAR Chelas.

The first steps were taken towards Internationalization

The first steps were taken towards Internationalization

BP/ DRAGADOS, Plataform Fabrication Off-Shore, Cadiz/ Espanha.

The company has made its internationalization a strategic path, growing significantly in foreign markets. SIMI's solutions in the engineering and construction methodology concerning piping, storage tanks, mechanical and metalic structures erection, are being developed in several countries.

Opening of the new delegation SIMI Norte

Given its strong presence in this region north of the country, whose main activity consisted on the Projects Management and specialized Manpower.

Foundation of SIMI Mozambique

Foundation of SIMI Mozambique

The new subsidiary, located in Maputo, concentrates its activity of mechanical construction in the Cement Industry and Water Treatment Infrastructures.

In Portugal, SIMI develops emblematic works at the EXPO 98.

SIMI develops emblematic works at EURO2004 Football Championship, namely Sporting Lissabon Stadium (Alvalade XXI) and Algarve Stadium.

SIMI begins its activity in the Angola with the production expansion capacity of FPSO Girassol - Offshore.

Foundation of SIMI Brasil

The birth of SIMI Brasil, opens horizons to the diversification and the continuity of a solid business project in the Brazilian Market.

Expansion

Expansion

The participation of SIMI BRASIL in the capital of VIPETRO, with the purpose of participating in the works of Petrobras and the local Natural Gas distributor.

MARSIMI, established in September 2011, has as its first objective the phosphate industry and is expected to extend it to other sectors of industrial activity.

In Portugal, SIMI obtains the VCA certification (SCC **) allowing to work as main contractor in BENELUX region.

Foundation of SIMI Cameron

Foundation of SIMI Cameron

In 2012, SIMI, in partnership with Foster Wheeler, starts the SONARA Refinery Modernization Project, in Limbé, Cameroon. The refinery modernization project involves the pre-fabrication and assembly of piping, equipment, 2 furnaces and the arection of 10 Atmospheric Tanks involving more than 400 operational workers.
